About the position

The Senior Benefits Specialist - Union is responsible for the delivery and administration of union benefit programs, ensuring compliance with federal and local regulations, and managing audits related to these plans. This role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex benefit issues and improve processes while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Administration of union benefit programs including retirement, pension, health and welfare, and leave of absence.
  • Prepare regular payroll reports, remittance reports, and payment requests for Accounts Payable.
  • Provide customer support to internal customers and external vendors.
  • Act as lead for union audits.
  • Identify and resolve complex union benefit issues or questions in a timely fashion.
  • Perform quality assurance checks of union benefits related data.
  • Review and correct errors to avoid penalties and union grievances.
  • Assist with monthly GL reconciliation for union benefit accounts.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory benefit trends and developments affecting union benefit administration.
  • Proactively identify process improvements and keep process documentation updated.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work with a high level of accuracy while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by Payroll Manager.

Requirements

  • Experience in benefits administration, particularly with union benefit programs.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and local regulations related to employee benefits.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve complex issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with payroll systems and reporting tools.
