About the position

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst at Performance Food Group (PFG) plays a crucial role in transforming data into actionable insights that enhance business value. This position is integral to the Corporate FP&A team, focusing on corporate sales, margin, and payroll reporting. The analyst will manage the day-to-day functionality of the Power BI reporting platform, ensuring that data is organized and communicated effectively between upper management and the IT department. The role requires a hands-on approach to analyzing data, understanding corporate needs, and delivering comprehensive reporting solutions. In this position, the Senior BI Analyst will be responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing reports and dashboards, transitioning from Excel to Power BI. This involves working with large and complex data sets, ensuring a single source of truth for reporting, and providing ongoing analysis and insights to various internal customers and senior leadership. The analyst will also support peak periods of forecasting, budgeting, and Board of Directors reporting, making this a dynamic and impactful role within the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of FP&A and data visualization skills, enabling them to proactively communicate with stakeholders, analyze information needs, and develop technical requirements based on business objectives. The role emphasizes collaboration with IT and HR to automate and enhance reporting processes, ensuring that the evolving business needs are met through effective use of business intelligence tools. Additionally, the analyst will engage with the Power BI community to share best practices and stay informed on AI and automation use cases relevant to FP&A.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively communicate with all stakeholders, analyze information needs and functional requirements, and develop technical requirements based on business requirements.
  • Design and deliver end-user reporting analytics and dashboards presentation.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Manager to develop, automate, and enhance new reporting and dashboards from Excel to Power BI to meet evolving business needs through use of business intelligence tools and/or partnership with IT and HR.
  • Develop financial dashboards and metrics in Power BI leveraging SAP Financial data.
  • Collaboratively work with IT to ensure appropriate data sources are available for reporting needs.
  • Partner with Sr. Manager to create a single source of truth for reporting, assessing and understanding data nuances across various systems and reports, such as TM1/S4 and Power BI.
  • Continuously improve analytics process and adherence.
  • Participate in the integration of new sales, gross margin, and HR data sets for newly acquired companies into data models.
  • Collaborate with other Power BI users in PFG or Power BI community to share best practices and be a thought leader for other finance users being introduced to Power BI tool.
  • Stay informed on AI and automation use cases for FP&A and participate in AI and automation pilot group.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in Power BI, data analytics, report creation, and end-user training, solving analytical problems involving data, business processes, and/or data analysis with a focus in a retail or wholesale industry.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with a high technical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies, systems, and processes.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, problem-solving, communication, and professional interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functional areas, including IT, Finance, HR, and Senior Management.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (5 - 7 years preferred).
  • Understanding of financial statements.
  • Familiarity with TM1 and S4 or other financial systems.
  • Familiarity with UKG or other payroll systems data.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Power BI and/or other visualization tools such as Tableau or Qlik.
  • Knowledge or experience with data prep software such as Alteryx, PowerQuery, or Tableau data prep.
  • Experience working with large data sets, data models, and hierarchies.
  • Experience building dashboards and reports from various data sources.
  • Experience working with Snowflake or similar data warehouse.
  • Some experience working in Corporate FP&A or Business Unit FP&A.
