About the position

The Senior BI Programmer at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a crucial role in enhancing data accessibility and usage within the organization. This position is part of the Business Intelligence (BI) & Analytics team, which is dedicated to providing BI and analytics services across TNC. The Senior BI Programmer will collaborate with various teams to design and build data assets, reports, and dashboards, while also supporting the development of a self-service analytics framework. This role requires a proactive and technical leader who is passionate about data and committed to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal business and IT teams to design and build data assets, reports, and dashboards.
  • Support the development of a self-service analytics framework for business partners.
  • Optimize the usage of Power BI's options and features for analytics projects.
  • Conduct quality assurance and assist in troubleshooting production issues.
  • Research and recommend creative technical and process solutions for the BI & Analytics team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant technical discipline and three years of experience in programming and systems design, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI including DAX, Power Query, M, tenant settings and options, and building visuals.
  • Experience with SQL, base SAS (PROC SQL), Databricks (DB SQL), or Python.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams to design, document, and implement technical solutions.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience designing or implementing an enterprise-level self-service analytics framework.
  • Experience analyzing complex system-wide technical specifications and interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of relational database best practices and concepts.
  • Experience in a global organization or non-profit business model.
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience.
