About the position

The Senior Big Data Operations Engineer role at Wells Fargo involves leading initiatives within the Risk Data Services team, which is part of the Risk Technology organization. This position focuses on delivering data consistently across Risk, requiring a strong technical background and the ability to manage moderately complex projects. The engineer will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, and debugging projects, as well as resolving technical challenges and providing guidance to less experienced staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments
• Contribute to large scale planning of strategies
• Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
• Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures
• Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements
• Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals
• Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff

Requirements

• 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
• 4+ years of experience designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting for projects and programs
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in Hadoop or Cloudera
• 4+ years of experience with MongoDB or similar
• 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure or GCP (Google Cloud Platform)
• 4+ years of experience with GitHub
• 3+ years with Python, Spark, and Kafka
• 2+ years of Unix/Shell scripting and Scala
• 2+ years of experience with Airflow or Autosys
• 1+ years of experience with Kubernetes

Nice-to-haves

• 2+ years of experience in setting up monitoring dashboards thru Grafana or Prometheus
• 2+ years of experience with Dremio or Alteryx
• 3+ years of experience with Ansible
• Data analytics capabilities and mindset at scale
• Ability to interact effectively at varying levels of the business and technical organizations, including management
• Strong team or technical leadership experience
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Previous experience with Wells Fargo technical systems
