About the position

The Senior Billing Accountant position at CDM Smith is a pivotal role that can be based out of any of the company's offices, offering a hybrid work environment that allows for both in-office and remote work. This position is responsible for overseeing, analyzing, and distributing client billings for high-priority and complex client contracts. The Senior Billing Accountant will provide instruction and support to less senior staff regarding billing processes and procedures, ensuring that all activities are performed under limited supervision. In addition to client billing oversight, the role includes performing Contract Administrative duties such as project setup, funding modification entry, project closure, and project task maintenance. The Senior Billing Accountant will prepare client invoices for a designated group of contracts, which involves verifying contract terms, collating invoice packages, and managing the distribution and retention of invoice documentation. The position also requires participation in review, analysis, and resolution activities related to client billing, as well as developing and defining procedures and techniques to enhance the effectiveness of the company's billing function. Furthermore, the role involves conducting moderately complex client billing analyses and making recommendations for resolving billing issues. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare client invoices for assigned contracts, verifying contract terms and managing invoice documentation.

  • Conduct moderately complex client billing analyses and make recommendations for resolution.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 4 years of related experience in billing accounting.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a billing accounting role within the engineering consulting (AEC) industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and Adobe Pro.
  • Experience with Oracle or other large ERP systems for billing purposes.
  • Experience supporting federal projects for billing purposes.
