About the position

StataCorp is seeking a Senior Biostatistician and Software Developer to join our Development team in College Station, TX. This role requires a strong understanding of biostatistics, applied statistics, and software development. As a biostatistician at StataCorp, you will be involved in expanding the statistical features of Stata, which includes a variety of tasks such as collaborating with users and colleagues to identify new features, validating statistical methods, programming in C and Stata, and writing comprehensive documentation. In this position, you will work closely with a team of talented statisticians and programmers, contributing to all aspects of the design and use of Stata. You will be responsible for identifying biostatistical procedures that should be integrated into Stata and implementing these procedures using C and the Stata programming language. Additionally, you will write technical documentation and manuals to support the software's use. Continuous learning is essential, as you will need to keep your knowledge updated on statistical theory and empirical practices. You will also engage with users through online forums and contribute articles to the Stata Journal, enhancing your visibility and influence within the Stata user community. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team of statisticians and programmers on the design and use of Stata.
  • Identify biostatistical procedures for incorporation into Stata.
  • Implement biostatistical procedures in C and the Stata programming language.
  • Write technical documentation and manuals for Stata.
  • Continuously update knowledge on statistical theory and empirical practice.
  • Communicate with users through online forums and contribute articles to the Stata Journal.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of statistical theory, particularly in survival analysis, epidemiology, and clinical trials.
  • Experience in empirical practice related to biostatistics.
  • Programming experience in low-level languages such as C or FORTRAN.
  • Experience with statistical packages and programming.
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • PhD or equivalent knowledge and experience in biostatistics, statistics, or a related science field.
