About the position

The Senior Board Assistant position is a lead/supervisory role within the County of San Diego's Clerk of the Board of Supervisors. This role provides specialized services in support of the Board of Supervisors and other special bodies, such as the Assessment Appeals Board and County Hearing Officers. The Senior Board Assistant is responsible for supervising and training staff, managing operational units, and ensuring quality control in the delivery of services. The position requires handling a high volume of inquiries from elected officials, County staff, the public, and the media, while utilizing various automation systems to facilitate operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate the work of assigned operational unit staff.
  • Organize and assign tasks to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Provide quality control for services rendered by the unit.
  • Handle inquiries from elected officials, County staff, the public, and the media.
  • Develop a thorough working knowledge of relevant codes, rules, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience equivalent to a Board Assistant with the County of San Diego, or
  • Two years of experience providing support to an official body similar to the Board of Supervisors, including processing agendas and summarizing official actions.
  • Valid California Class C driver's license, or ability to arrange timely transportation for field travel.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Nice-to-haves
