About the position

Kforce's client, a leading Connecticut based CPA firm, is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper for a permanent part-time role, with a remote option available. The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for a variety of bookkeeping and accounting activities for small to mid-size business clients. This role involves assisting the Supervisor in all aspects of bookkeeping and accounting activities, which includes the preparation of various tax forms and monthly reports, as well as assistance with balance sheets, statements of net worth, budgets, cash flow statements, and the creation of estate plan summaries. The Senior Bookkeeper will work independently to enter transactions from bank and credit card accounts, prepare and/or review quarterly and annual information/non-tax returns, and assist in preparing entity and personal financial statements along with customized reports. The role also requires tracking, monitoring, and reconciling payables and receivables, utilizing QuickBooks Online or other cloud-based accounting software to capture financial data, and preparing and printing reports. Additionally, the Senior Bookkeeper will create monthly reports and summaries on the performance of investments, assist with the reconciliation of all bank accounts monthly, and record and track payroll activity. The position also involves performing and/or overseeing client administrative services such as banking, cash management, bill payment, and document management. The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for creating, preparing, and maintaining accurate digital accounting records, general ledgers, bank and investment reconciliations, workpapers, and other supporting records. Processing sales and use tax as needed and coordinating tax processing with the tax department are also part of the responsibilities. The role may require occasional same-day travel for work at client offices, meetings, and seminars using a personal vehicle, as well as preparing routine correspondence to clients for approval and signature of a partner. Participation in planning and scheduling client engagements is also expected.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently in entering transactions from bank and credit card accounts

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation
  • 5+ years of accounting and tax experience
  • Experience using QuickBooks Online or other cloud-based accounting software
  • Proficiency in use of computers, including use of Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to confidential information
  • Tech-savvy; Must have experience working with Microsoft Suite, QuickBooks Desktop and Online and a quick learner of new platforms
  • Ability to meet time constraints and client deadlines
  • Occasional overtime work required throughout the year
  • Experience within a family office or similar setting preferred
