About the position

The Senior Bridge Design Engineer at Michael Baker International will be responsible for tackling complex bridge projects and developing innovative solutions for various transportation departments. This role involves performing design and analysis for bridge systems while enjoying a flexible hybrid remote work schedule. The position requires a strong background in structural engineering and offers opportunities for mentorship and collaboration within a dynamic team.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex structural analysis and prepare design calculations using Midas, AASHTOWare Bridge Design and Rating, STAAD, and other advanced software tools.
• Create structural details and construction plans using MicroStation or AutoCAD.
• Assist and check design calculations performed by others to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Prepare geometric layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculations.
• Conduct quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings.
• Prepare technical specification sections.
• Provide input to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements.
• Guide and mentor junior structural staff members, fostering their professional growth.
• Build and maintain strong connections with employees, clients, and other collaborators to achieve remarkable results.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• 10-15+ years of relevant experience in bridge design and structural analysis.
• An active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Massachusetts.
• Strong track record of leading bridge projects, meeting with clients, and providing technical expertise.
• Proficiency using industry standard bridge design and analysis software, including MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with structural design software and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
• Familiarity with MassDOT, MBTA, RIDOT, CTDOT standards for design, plan development and ratings is highly desired.
