About the position

The Senior Bridge Engineer at Whitman Requardt & Associates LLP will play a crucial role in expanding the company's presence in Texas by building and managing a structural group. This position involves leadership responsibilities, including business planning, establishing goals, and maintaining positive client relationships. The engineer will also participate in the evaluation, inspection, rehabilitation, and design of infrastructure facilities for transportation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building and managing a structural group within the Texas market.
  • Expand the company's presence in Texas by hiring and mentoring staff.
  • Guide the overall direction of growth and expansion in Texas and throughout the company.
  • Operate with integrity and sound business principles in leadership roles.
  • Establish goals and build positive client relationships.
  • Communicate openly with partners and team members.
  • Grow and direct the structures design practice.
  • Evaluate, inspect, rehabilitate, and design infrastructure facilities for transportation projects.

Requirements

  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of bridge design experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering; Master's Degree or other advanced degree desirable.
  • P.E., registered in the state of Texas.
  • Strong knowledge of TXDOT Policies and Procedures preferred.
  • Experience designing and managing bridge projects and preparing contract documents in accordance with TXDOT Policies and Procedures preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO Bridge LRFD Specifications.
  • Experience with a variety of bridge design software.
  • Hands-on experience with MicroStation software.
  • Qualified NBIS Inspection Team Leader a plus.
  • FHWA-NHI Fracture Critical Inspection Training a plus.
  • Track record of developing and growing engineering groups and establishing relationships.
  • Ability to manage and mentor staff of all levels effectively.
  • Excellent communication and business development skills.
  • Experience with all aspects of engineering project management.
