About the position

The Senior Budget Analyst at California State University, Fullerton plays a crucial role in managing and analyzing the budget for Housing and Residential Engagement. The analyst will independently handle revenue, operating, and capital budgets, ensuring accurate tracking and reconciliation of financial data. Responsibilities

  • Independently perform technical budget analysis and reporting for all cost centers within Housing and Residential Engagement.
  • Serve as a budget advisor to Housing and Residential Engagement staff.
  • Assist with short and long-term budget administration, planning, and analysis.
  • Coordinate training sessions for staff on budget tracking, including system access and security.
  • Process, record, maintain, track, and reconcile revenue and expenditures for all Housing and Residential Engagement accounts.
  • Resolve discrepancies and develop revenue and expenditure reports.
  • Monitor budget transfers and maintain salary projections.
  • Process monthly payroll and reconcile with Payroll Expenditure Reports.
  • Assist in complex financial forecasts, projections, and analysis for the department.
  • Prepare mid-year and year-end financial statements and reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent training and administrative work experience.
  • Two years of related experience in budget analysis or administrative work.
  • Working knowledge of standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to budget analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to budget administration.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in diverse situations.
  • Skilled in research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data for sound conclusions and recommendations.
  • Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information in written or presentation form.
  • Ability to train others on new skills and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Previous experience at California State University, especially in budget/administration or housing-related positions.
