About the position

The Senior Budget Analyst position at Escambia County, FL, is responsible for managing the annual budgetary planning processes, performing data interpretation, and gathering information to support cost estimates. This role involves overseeing the Municipal Services Benefit Unit (MSBU) program, coordinating inter-agency activities, and supervising cash flow and fund assignments. The analyst will also manage staffing levels and utilize tracking software to ensure effective budget management.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises assigned programs and/or budgets by reviewing departmental budgets, amendments, and recommendations for availability of funding.
  • Assists in planning and coordinating budget development and resource management plans.
  • Analyzes and prepares financial data, statistics, and reports related to budgetary activities.
  • Maintains documentation related to assigned areas of responsibility by preparing formal budget documents and financial reports.
  • Provides advice and counsel to staff on financial reports and software, facilitating problem resolution and policy development.
  • Formulates statistical and trend analysis for future revenue and expenditure projections.
  • Researches proposed laws and advises management on compliance with State and Local Law.
  • Completes special assignments involving independent investigation and data analysis.
  • Audits and analyzes operational programs to recommend policies and procedures for efficiency.
  • Participates in recommendations to upgrade financial reporting and budgetary systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, public administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in budget analysis or financial management.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial data interpretation.
  • Experience with budgetary software and tracking systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in finance or public administration.
