About the position

The Senior Budget Analyst will oversee and enhance the budget process for the City of Baytown. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring budget plans to ensure financial stability and growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in budget analysis and a passion for optimizing financial strategies, contributing to the organization's future through effective budget management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and improve the budget process.
• Assist in the preparation and coordination of the City's annual budget.
• Participate in the preparation of long-range financial forecasts.
• Maintain the City's general ledger for accurate recording of revenues and expenses.
• Analyze and review financial transactions for quarterly and annual reports.
• Prepare complex statistical forecasting models and compile data.
• Participate in annual budget, year-end audit, and CAFR preparation.
• Assist in reviewing and updating financial procedures for accuracy.
• Prepare reports and maintain transaction records for the City.
• Review accounts to determine availability of funds and make recommendations for finance-related problems.
• Monitor department budgets for compliance throughout the fiscal year.
• Provide financial reports including trend analysis and financial projections.
• Maintain and coordinate position control information between departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of experience in budget, finance or related field.
• An equivalent combination of education, experience, certification and/or licenses sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Nice-to-haves

• Five years of direct experience in budget and management analysis.
• Prior municipal experience.
