About the position

The Senior Budget Analyst at Tufts University plays a crucial role in supporting the Office of Budget and Planning. Reporting to the Director of Budget Services, this position serves as a primary contact for various schools and units, providing guidance on budget development and monitoring. The analyst is responsible for developing budget and forecast packages, identifying variances, and ensuring effective communication regarding budget status. Additionally, the role involves liaising with other university departments and preparing performance reports for key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary contact to schools/units for budget development and monitoring.
• Consult with the Executive Administrative Dean and Program Managers on budget matters.
• Develop budget and forecast packages for school/unit input and review.
• Identify and resolve variances and deficits in budgets.
• Document detailed budget plans with rationale and supporting information.
• Liaise with Local Research Administrators (LRAs) for budget input and forecasts.
• Prepare summary analyses of assigned units and assist with prior period variance questions.
• Measure and report performance indicators to key stakeholders.
• Act as steward for university resources, ensuring appropriate use of gift and discretionary funds.

Requirements

• 5+ years' experience with budgeting and financial management.
• Demonstrated experience working with senior staff across an organization.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong skills with Excel and other budgeting and reporting tools.
