About the position

The Senior Budget Analyst at the University of Colorado Denver plays a crucial role in providing budget and financial services to support the campus budget and planning operations. This full-time position involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including campus administration and finance leaders, to ensure efficient budget management and compliance with guidelines. The analyst will conduct analyses, develop reporting tools, and assist in the preparation of the annual budget, contributing to the university's financial health and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Office of Provost leadership and CU Denver Schools and Colleges Assistant Deans of Finance and Administration to provide comprehensive financial summaries including budget projections.
  • Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to discuss finance issues, advise on spending trends, and strategic planning.
  • Work with other analysts to develop Cognos and Tableau reporting tools for budget monitoring.
  • Monitor and update reports as needed.
  • Collaborate annually with leadership to develop the annual budget.
  • Assist in reconciling the annual CU Denver operating budget with the Anschutz team.
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative analyses of major issues facing the university and communicate results to leadership.
  • Collect and query financial data from various university information sources for business intelligence models.
  • Assist in preparing the annual University of Colorado Denver Budget Data document for state General Fund support.
  • Develop materials, reports, schedules, and charts for management meetings and retreats.
  • Monitor budgetary data in the University financial reporting system for compliance and reasonableness.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of progressively responsible finance or budget-related experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • PeopleSoft or other Oracle-based financial system experience.
  • Four years of progressively responsible finance or budget-related experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with CU-specific systems (CU-Data, PeopleSoft Finance, Concur, and Marketplace).
