About the position

The Senior Budget Financial Applications Analyst plays a crucial role in the Central Budget Office at Boston College, reporting to the Assistant Director of Budget Analytics and LRFP Systems. This position is responsible for supporting report design, maintenance, analytics, research, and training within the Budget department. The analyst provides financial and technical support across various functional areas, utilizing applications such as PeopleSoft Financials & HR, Cognos TM1, and Cognos BI. A key aspect of the role involves assisting in the development and maintenance of the University's Cost Allocation report, which is presented to the Finance & Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees.

Responsibilities

• Support report design and maintenance for the Budget department.
• Conduct analytics and research to inform budgeting processes.
• Provide training on reporting tools and troubleshoot system issues.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the University's Cost Allocation report.
• Create and maintain standard and ad hoc Budget reports as requested by Finance and Executive VP areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Five years of related experience in budgeting or financial analysis.
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills strongly desired.
• Experience with reporting/query tools, specifically PeopleSoft Financials, Cognos TM1, and BI applications.
• Ability to assimilate and apply new technologies.
• Knowledge of general budgeting and accounting principles.
