About the position

The Senior Business Analyst for Budget Development at Kennesaw State University plays a crucial role in enhancing the university's financial operations through the implementation and support of budget development software. This position is responsible for developing reporting solutions that meet the needs of university stakeholders, supporting financial applications, and delivering training on financial systems. The analyst will monitor and improve the quality of various technical and functional business processes, identify and resolve data issues, and ensure that the financial data integrity is maintained. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to supporting the university's objectives through effective data management and reporting. In this position, the analyst will be tasked with designing, building, implementing, and maintaining SQL scripts and procedures within the Oracle financial data warehouse. They will interface with clients to define business processes, specifications, reporting needs, and functional requirements. The analyst will also develop reports, visualizations, and dashboards that present data in an accessible manner for stakeholders and business users. Additionally, they will devise and execute test plans to ensure that outcomes meet specified requirements and expectations, and deliver quality end-user training programs to reinforce the technology and operations infrastructure. The Senior Business Analyst will document complex system processes and functionality, lead meetings with end users to clarify issues, gather requirements, and resolve requests. They will prioritize and execute problem resolution based on business needs and timelines, present data resolution findings to stakeholders, and provide support for operational and technical processes. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the university's financial systems are utilized effectively to achieve campus goals and improve overall financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, builds, implements, and maintains Oracle SQL scripts and procedures in Oracle financial data warehouse.
  • Interfaces with clients to define business processes, specifications, reporting needs, and functional requirements.
  • Develops reports, visualizations, and dashboards that present data in an accessible manner for stakeholders and business users.
  • Devises and executes test plans to ensure that outcomes meet specified requirements and expectations of business users.
  • Delivers quality end-user training programs to ensure effective and efficient use of systems to achieve campus goals.
  • Performs training needs analysis, develops training programs and manuals, and oversees training systems.
  • Documents complex system processes and functionality, implementing improvements as applicable.
  • Leads meetings with end users to clarify issues, gather requirements, and resolve requests.
  • Prioritizes and executes problem resolution based on business need, timelines, and scale of impact.
  • Presents data resolution findings to relevant stakeholders with recommendations to ensure business needs are met.
  • Leads finance users on current and future data visualization and reporting solutions to identify customer needs.
  • Provides support for operational and technical processes, and system changes, proactively searching for improvement opportunities.
  • Acts as the primary support point of contact for USG to open tickets and facilitate resolutions.
  • Approves content on the department and/or division webpage under the direction of leadership.
  • Maintains financial data integrity.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Three (3) years previous experience in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Technology or Systems Analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in SQL, data analytics or similar relevant certification.
  • Working knowledge of fund accounting, budget, and finance.
  • Strong IT and Financial skills.
  • Experience in software implementations.
  • Experience in extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes.
  • Experience with reporting and/or query tools and coding in software, databases, and/or programs such as Tableau, SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, Oracle Databases, and/or SQL.
  • Extensive experience in data analysis, dashboards, analytics and decision support systems.
