About the position

The Senior Business Analyst - I plays a crucial role in financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and accounting assignments. This position involves preparing, monitoring, and reporting on business unit financial plans while providing analytical support for major business and regulatory issues. The analyst will work closely with operating departments to enhance performance measurement and support strategic planning initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full spectrum of financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and accounting assignments.
  • Prepare, monitor, and report on business unit financial plans.
  • Provide support in analyzing the financial impact of major business and regulatory issues.
  • Assist business unit operating departments with financial consulting and process improvement.
  • Prepare analysis and reports of financial and operational data to help achieve performance targets.
  • Coordinate and prepare annual O&M and capital budgets and related cash flows.
  • Prepare financial and cost allocation plans and monthly/quarterly performance reviews.
  • Support the development of business unit strategic plans.
  • Assist in the development of computerized solutions to meet financial requirements.
  • Track and analyze operational and financial performance measures and indicators for the business unit segment.
  • Perform special projects and studies as assigned by the manager.
  • Conduct business unit cost planning and analysis and coordinate the resource allocation process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • CPA, CMA, MBA, and/or other professional certifications/advanced degree preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook).
  • Thorough understanding of accounting, regulatory, and financial theories and concepts.
  • Good knowledge of generally accepted accounting and costing principles and methodologies.
  • Preferred knowledge of SAP/BW, CMS, NBMS, DART, and DataMart.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA, CMA, MBA, and/or other professional certifications/advanced degree preferred.
  • Preferred knowledge of SAP/BW.
  • Preferred knowledge of CMS, NBMS, DART, and DataMart.
