About the position

The Senior Business Analyst plays a crucial role within the Department of Information Resources at UT Southwestern, specifically supporting the Epic Resolute Hospital Billing module. This position is integral to the Revenue Cycle, where the analyst will be responsible for the build, support, maintenance, workflow development, and reporting/data analysis of key features and components of the module. The role requires maintaining competency in relevant applications and technologies within a specified timeframe, ensuring that the systems are functioning optimally and meeting the needs of the organization. In addition to technical support, the Senior Business Analyst will participate in system maintenance by utilizing analytical skills for issue resolution, enhancement development, project participation, and version upgrades. The ideal candidate will have experience and certification in Epic modules, particularly Epic Resolute HB and Epic HB Claims Administration. This position not only demands technical expertise but also strong project management skills, as the analyst will manage projects, serve as the primary customer contact, and define and maintain project plans and schedules. The role involves monitoring compliance with project scope, timelines, and deliverables, providing regular project status reports to both customers and internal management. The Senior Business Analyst will also assist lower-grade business analysts in coordinating projects, collecting and interpreting specifications for software applications, and developing operational plans for both new and existing business computer applications. This position is pivotal in ensuring the integrity and quality of data through rigorous testing and training of system users, as well as documenting and tracking application errors and issues. Overall, the Senior Business Analyst will contribute significantly to the operational efficiency and productivity of the department, making it a vital role within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects and serve as the primary customer contact.
  • Define and maintain project plans and schedules.
  • Monitor compliance with definitions of project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Provide regular project status reports to customers and internal management.
  • Assist lower-grade business analysts in coordinating projects.
  • Collect, interpret, and document specifications required to develop new and revise existing software applications.
  • Develop and implement operational plans for new and existing business computer applications.
  • Participate in the development of project proposals for customers.
  • Coordinate testing of new applications and changes to existing applications to ensure integrity and quality of data.
  • Define and develop test scenarios.
  • Document and track the status of application errors and related issues in a problem log.
  • Assist programmers and lower-grade business analysts in analyzing and resolving problems.
  • Compile complete, concise, and comprehensive policies and operation procedures to communicate issues to management staff.
  • Develop new system administrative procedures utilizing new functionality from systems changes.
  • Assist in developing and implementing business strategies to improve operational processing and productivity.
  • Monitor the development of specifications and establish priorities for design and testing of various projects.
  • Review, develop, recommend, and implement activities, programs, or functions as assigned.
  • Maintain and track accounts assigned to projects or programs.
  • Develop and maintain project plans and provide project status reports.
  • Record time spent on projects to meet cost-recovery requirements.
  • May supervise lower-level analysts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of business systems and/or project experience with exposure to systems or project development and testing, installation, and training.
  • Experience and certification in Epic modules, specifically Epic Resolute HB and Epic HB Claims Administration.
