About the position

The Senior Business Analyst (Sr. BA) at American Water serves as a crucial liaison between business subject matter experts (SMEs), project teams, and stakeholders, focusing on requirement analysis, documentation, and conflict resolution throughout the project lifecycle. This role is pivotal in defining technology solutions that align with business objectives, driving innovation, and ensuring quality delivery of technology solutions within budget and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison between business SMEs, project teams, and stakeholders.
• Conduct requirements analysis and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Document business processes (as-is & to-be) and facilitate conflict resolution.
• Work with business SMEs and technology partners to analyze current system capabilities and define requirements for technology solutions.
• Drive innovation by providing value propositions and implementing best practices.
• Elicit, document, and translate business requirements into detailed functional and non-functional requirements.
• Define SMART KPIs to track business value gains for each initiative.
• Assist testing teams in translating requirements into test conditions and expected results for various testing phases.
• Contribute to project management activities including scoping, estimating project efforts, and identifying risks.
• Participate in quality management reviews and communicate activity status to stakeholders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in business/technology strategic product development and project implementation.
• 7+ years of experience as a business analyst supporting one or more business functions.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Strong understanding of foundational technology operations and digital solutions relevant to business processes.
• Experience with requirement analysis, SDLC, Agile and Waterfall frameworks, Agile Central, JIRA, and MS Office tools.
