About the position

The Senior Business Analyst at Akumen, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting a Federal customer by performing detailed requirements analysis, documenting processes, and conducting user acceptance testing. This position requires a strong analytical mindset and the ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical users. The role involves collaboration within an agile team to achieve project goals and enhance business processes through effective application of Scrum principles.

Responsibilities

  • Support a self-organizing, self-managing team in achieving daily iteration and release goals.
  • Apply, implement, and enforce Scrum principles and practices.
  • Protect the team from outside influences that may hinder delivery.
  • Mentor and support the team in transitioning to agile methodologies.
  • Facilitate team dynamics to maximize performance and improve agile practices.
  • Define project scope and objectives based on user needs and business systems.
  • Develop an understanding of business needs through elicitation techniques.
  • Facilitate negotiation of requirements among stakeholders.
  • Help stakeholders envision process changes with solution implementation.
  • Build and update system requirements specification documents and related artifacts.
  • Guide and advise less-experienced Business Systems Analysts.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to define technical solutions for business needs.
  • Utilize agile or waterfall methodologies for responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related Information Technology field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in developing requirements and writing technical documents.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow and/or Azure platforms.
  • Ability to manage own workload and take initiative.
  • Proficient in multi-tasking and handling multiple projects.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for process improvements.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with User Interface designs and mockups.
  • Previous experience working with Government clients is highly desirable.
  • Experience conducting daily stand-up meetings and planning sessions.
