Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has been a leader in the aerospace and defense industry for over 60 years, and we are now applying our expertise to the U.S. Air Force's Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) mission. We invite you to join our SNC-led SAOC team, where you will engage in meaningful work aimed at modernizing and delivering the next-generation SAOC aircraft. This aircraft is trusted by high-level officials, including the President and Secretary of Defense, to ensure critical command, control, and communication during national emergencies. In the role of Senior Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for meeting with customers, facilitating new business opportunities, and developing and executing capture strategies. Your responsibilities will include overseeing market assessments, monitoring market activity, identifying customer needs, and assisting in new product development planning activities. You will assess program opportunities against target markets, core proficiencies, revenue potential, company capabilities, and projected business forecasts. This position requires a strong understanding of the NC3 (Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications) weapon system and its dependencies, as well as knowledge of NC3 customers within the USAF, USSTRATCOM, and DoD. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, serving as a prime integrator for innovative, high-performance systems. Our end-to-end C4ISR capabilities encompass design, integration, testing, certification, training, and logistics support, tailored to meet customer requirements while consistently exceeding expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with customers to facilitate new business opportunities.
  • Develop and execute capture strategies.
  • Oversee market assessments and monitor market activity.
  • Identify customer needs and assist in new product development planning activities.
  • Assess program opportunities against target markets, core proficiencies, revenue potential, and company capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education).
  • Advanced knowledge of US Department of Defense Military programs or Civil Space services, and acquisition procedures.
  • Ability to understand customer requirements and operations concepts and interpret, translate, and explain detailed technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Progressive experience with technical marketing, proposal development, and program management or engineering design.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to motivate and work with others.
  • Relevant experience in the Nuclear Command, Control & Communications (NC3), nuclear modernization, or related nuclear-capable aircraft domains.

Nice-to-haves

  • Typically 6-8 years of relevant experience (higher education may substitute for relevant experience).
  • Experience in Business Development.
  • Exposure to proposal coordination activities to ensure proposals are staffed and supported to achieve success.
  • Ability to work successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment, emphasizing rapid fielding of capabilities, with minimal supervision.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
