About the position

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst at Clemson University plays a pivotal role in data management and analysis, focusing on visualization and dashboards, as well as internal and external reporting needs for various enterprise divisions, including Finance and Operations, Athletics, and others. This position is essential for assisting and supporting team members in the development and maintenance of dashboard applications, curated data repositories, and related tools. The analyst will be responsible for creating and managing forecasts and decision support tools, collaborating with cross-functional teams across Clemson to streamline data gathering, interpretation, augmentation, and presentation activities. Engaging with stakeholders to support key objectives is a critical aspect of this role, along with other duties and projects as assigned. It is important to note that this is an in-person, non-remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, administers, and manages data decision tools used across the enterprise.
  • Performs analytical and reporting responsibilities, including building and maintaining visualization reports, dashboards, and complex models.
  • Curates data for customized decision support architectures and tools.
  • Performs ad-hoc analysis and reporting to inform decision making.
  • Coordinates and engages with other teams to deliver, track progress, and measure impact of work performed.
  • Proactively builds alliances with stakeholders to support user adoption and understanding of work outputs.
  • Facilitates training, workshops, and other engagement activities.
  • Maintains knowledge of various Finance and Operations, HR, Advancement, Athletics, IPTAY, and marketing systems and business processes.
  • Provides end user support, documentation, and training for those systems.
  • Researches IT and business process solutions and makes recommendations to improve efficiency.
  • Develops and supports various web, data management, and visualization applications used across enterprise divisions.
  • Provides coding, administration, and content updates as needed.
  • Supports data quality maintenance in all decision support systems as directed.
  • Develops and maintains reports using SQL and other applicable reporting languages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in data analysis and business intelligence tools.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with project management methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with specific systems used in Finance and Operations, HR, and Athletics.
  • Familiarity with coding languages beyond SQL, such as Python or R.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
