About the position

As a Senior Business Intelligence and Analytics Engineer at AbbVie, you will be part of an inclusive and collaborative business technology team dedicated to driving the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company. Your role will involve leveraging your analytics expertise to provide impactful data insights that help business stakeholders make informed decisions. You will be responsible for designing and developing intuitive data visualizations that effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. This position requires a deep understanding of data modeling, dimensional modeling, and data warehousing, as well as the ability to work with cross-functional teams to tackle complex analytics challenges. In this role, you will develop curated datasets using tools like Dataiku or Alteryx, and facilitate self-service analytics for business use cases. You will also establish and adhere to best practices in BI and analytics, including documentation, coding standards, and data quality assurance. As an internal subject matter expert on the BI platform, you will drive the self-service Center of Excellence (COE) and provide training to users. Your responsibilities will include managing multiple tasks efficiently, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, and delivering impactful presentations. You will also engage in requirement lifecycle management, including epic and story creation in JIRA/Confluence, change management, and user acceptance testing. Continuous learning and skill development will be essential as you expand your BI and analytics capabilities. Responsibilities

  • Provide impactful data insights to business stakeholders by discovering trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Design and develop intuitive data visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver complex analytics solutions.
  • Develop curated datasets using Dataiku or similar tools for self-service analytics.
  • Create semantic models adhering to metric governance standards.
  • Establish and follow BI and Analytics best practices, including peer and code reviews.
  • Serve as an internal SME on the BI platform and drive self-service COE training.
  • Establish data and metric governance around curated datasets and metrics.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Foster strong relationships with key business stakeholders and clients.
  • Develop and deliver highly impactful presentations.
  • Perform requirement lifecycle management, including epic and story creation in JIRA/Confluence.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing and training sessions.
  • Expand BI and Analytics skillset through research and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with 6+ years of relevant experience or master's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in BI and Analytics, Data Visualization, and insight generation.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in writing complex SQL.
  • 4+ years of experience with BI and Data Visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, and ThoughtSpot.
  • 3+ years of experience with Data Prep tools like Dataiku or Alteryx.
  • 3+ years of experience in cloud data warehouses like Snowflake or Amazon Redshift.
  • Experience in Python or R programming languages.
  • Experience in running user training sessions and building a power user business community.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, and stakeholder engagement.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Life Sciences Commercial Pharma, including insights into Sales Operations and marketing.
  • Consulting experience in the Business Intelligence and Analytics domain.
