About the position

Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Senior Business Intelligence Developer. This full-time contract position is based in Emeryville, California, and is hybrid in nature. As a Senior Business Intelligence Developer, you will play a crucial role in helping the company solve its most challenging problems and drive decisions with data. Your primary responsibility will be to provide advanced strategic analytical report development and tool deployment to support Business Intelligence initiatives. You will collaborate with various divisions to find thoughtful solutions that embed and promote Business Intelligence tools and reports, support corporate Business Intelligence initiatives, implement new systems and tools, conduct unit testing tied to new tools and reports, maintain existing tools, and train employees in the effective use of BI tools and reports. In this role, you will manage and execute Business Intelligence projects to solve business problems, functioning as a liaison between IT and functional areas. You will be accountable for the quality delivery of projects on time, developing project plans, communication plans, change readiness assessments, and end-user training. You will lead the design, development, implementation, and utilization of Business Intelligence tools and reports to evaluate business process effectiveness. Additionally, you will conduct Business Intelligence mapping discussions, configure solutions, guide system and integration testing, and manage implemented solutions. You will also participate in various cross-functional project teams, following agile development practices to ensure business governance and acceptance of technical interpretations of requirements. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining and improving existing reporting and processes by enhancing Business Intelligence tools and reports, managing data quality, and proactively identifying processes that would benefit from system automation. You will develop and maintain system documentation, ensure the benefits from data products and services are realized, and assist in effectively managing transitions to maintain business continuity. As a data and analytics evangelist, you will work to eliminate data silos and bridge gaps using effective data models, driving adoption by mentoring business users into data storytellers throughout all divisions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute Business Intelligence projects to solve business problems.
  • Function as a liaison between IT and functional areas for Business Intelligence projects, ensuring quality delivery on time.
  • Develop project plans, communication plans, change readiness assessments, and end-user training.
  • Lead the design, development, implementation, and utilization of Business Intelligence tools and reports.
  • Conduct Business Intelligence mapping discussions, configure solutions, guide system and integration testing, and manage implemented solutions.
  • Participate on various cross-functional project teams, following agile development practices.
  • Provide technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures.
  • Ensure creation of quality design documentation for all BI initiatives.
  • Manage user security for new and existing Business Intelligence tools in compliance with audit requirements.
  • Enhance existing Business Intelligence tools and reports by adding new requirements or improving existing design.
  • Manage data quality in Business Intelligence reports.
  • Proactively identify processes that would benefit from system automation.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation including Functional Specifications and Business Processes.
  • Ensure benefits from data products and services are realized and behavior changes are sustained after implementations.
  • Assist in effectively managing transitions to maintain business continuity.
  • Eliminate data silos and bridge gaps using effective data models for reporting.
  • Drive adoption by mentoring business users into data storytellers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative disciplines.
  • 7-9 years' experience with complex technical report design and implementation.
  • 7-9 years' experience working with various DW, BI, or ERP software packages (e.g., Tableau, SAP Business Objects, SAS Business Intelligence, Cognos, etc.).
  • A minimum of 7 years of SQL experience is required.
  • Experience with complex relational database development, maintenance, and exception testing.
  • Experience with data modeling strategies and related technical documentation.
  • Advanced user in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint & Visio; expert functional knowledge of Excel and Access.
  • Understanding of SDLCRDLCDCLC, waterfall, and agile methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Experience with troubleshooting data and reporting issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative disciplines preferred.
  • Willingness to be on call for night/weekend production support in rare cases.
  • Ability to think strategically about tools and technologies that enable analytics.
