About the position

The Senior Business Intelligence Developer will work in an exciting, fast-paced, dynamic business environment focused on the growth of our business and internal customer satisfaction. The candidate will work closely with line of business teams, other developers, and analysts to deliver on projects and initiatives required for the Bank's ongoing business operations, customer opportunities, and revenue generation. The candidate will work extensively with Microsoft technologies and will possess significant experience as a developer in financial services. The preferred candidate will work independently and in teams analyzing, designing, and developing business intelligence solutions using coding standards and best practices in close partnership with business teams, architecture, and IT leaders; as well as mentoring junior staff by providing guidance and design consultation. Essential Functions include adhering to FDIC and FRB data regulatory guidelines for SDLC, designing, developing, testing, and deploying ETL solutions, reports, etc., which meet defined requirements using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI, Python, ADF, T-SQL, and other languages and tools. Importing data from 3rd party sources to improve the Bank's ability to market, control, and enhance client and/or banker experience is crucial, ensuring that data imports align with approved data architectures and standards. The role also involves contributing to requirements refinement, analysis, and design for all-sized projects, improving the data environment for business partners, and adhering to best practice development, testing, deployment, and operations policies. The candidate will work with DBAs to determine how to meet service level agreements and assist in defining SLAs, while also maintaining awareness of current data technology trends and recommending enhancements that will improve the data environment. Writing technical specifications for data integrations and solutions, creating and maintaining design and data flow diagrams, and ensuring compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, as well as Federal/State regulations, are also key responsibilities. The role requires navigating Microsoft Office Software and other department-specific applications to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency, working as part of a team, and maintaining expertise in current technology stacks to recommend changes that can positively impact the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to FDIC and FRB data regulatory guidelines for SDLC.
  • Design, develop, test and deploy ETL solutions, reports, etc. using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI, Python, ADF, T-SQL and other languages and tools.
  • Import data from 3rd party sources to improve the Bank's ability to market, control, and enhance client and/or banker experience.
  • Contribute to requirements refinement, analysis and design for all-sized projects.
  • Improve Data Environment for business partners by enhancing daily job efficiency and success, resolving defects, and automating daily data team functions.
  • Adhere to best practice development, testing, deployment and operations policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Work with DBAs to determine how to meet service level agreements, and assist in defining SLAs.
  • Adhere to data quality standards, data governance standards, coding standards and SDLC.
  • Contribute to Data Democratization by working with Analysts and LOB partners to design and implement complex user stories.
  • Maintain awareness of current data technology trends and recommend enhancements that will improve the data environment.
  • Write technical specifications for data integrations and solutions.
  • Create and maintain design and data flow diagrams.
  • Ensure compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve daily issues with the perspective of minimizing incidents and developing supporting documentation for support teams.
  • Provide mentorship to junior developers.
  • Develop and execute plans to install new software and custom software changes following Change Management disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Development/Programming, Sciences, Mathematics, or Data Management.
  • 6 - 8 years of experience as a developer in banking.
  • 8 - 12 years of BI/Analytics development experience using Microsoft technology stack (e.g. C#, SQL Server, .NET) or equivalent technologies and toolset (e.g. Java, Python, MySQL).
  • 2 - 6 years of experience writing SQL statements for relational database management systems like SQL Server, MySQL, etc.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming using C#, Java or similar contemporary programming languages.
  • Knowledge of relational data model and Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS (tabular model).
  • Ability to work with large datasets in building pipelines and integrated datasets using traditional data integration technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or any other cloud ecosystem.
  • Experience with message queuing technologies such as Kafka, Azure Service Bus, and stream data integration technologies.
  • Familiarity with agile environments and exposure to Scrum framework.
