About the position

As a Senior Business Operations Analyst at Builders FirstSource, you will play a crucial role in supporting corporate leadership through analytical and reporting functions. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy solving complex problems. You will be responsible for managing and interpreting data from various systems, including relational databases, financial reporting systems, and HR information systems. Your work will directly contribute to the financial reporting and performance analysis of the company, making it essential for the success of our corporate FP&A team. In this hybrid role, you will spend three days a week onsite at our Corporate office in Irving, TX, and two days working remotely. You will provide monthly and quarterly data support to internal stakeholders, ensuring that they have the necessary information for public financial reporting and performance evaluation. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you develop business solutions using data-driven analytics, serving as a resource for corporate leadership and field operations in areas such as variance analysis, financial planning, metrics reporting, and business development. Additionally, you will act as a liaison between the business and IT departments, focusing on data quality, master data management, systems implementation, and process improvement. This role does not have supervisory responsibilities, allowing you to focus on your analytical work and collaboration with various teams across the organization. We are looking for a candidate who is not only skilled in data analysis but also possesses excellent communication skills to effectively convey insights and recommendations to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide monthly and quarterly data support to internal stakeholders for public financial reporting and performance purposes
  • Provide business solutions using data driven analytics
  • Serve as a resource for corporate leadership, field operations, and various corporate functions in matters of variance analysis, financial planning/modeling, metrics reporting, and business development
  • Serve as a liaison between the business and IT regarding data quality, master data management, systems implementation, and process improvement
  • Other duties may be assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of directly related experience in an analytical, decision support, or reporting role using SQL or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL Server Management Studio and SQL query language, including stored procedures and table creation and maintenance
  • Working knowledge of Microstrategy, Power BI, or similar business intelligence tool
  • Working knowledge of R, Python, SAS, or similar analytics tool
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, to include use of intermediate formulas, pivot tables, VBA, and MS Query in Excel
  • Prefer working knowledge of Hyperion Smart View or similar financial system
  • Home building industry experience is a plus
