The Senior Business Systems Analyst plays a crucial role in enhancing complex processes through the application of automated systems and technology. This position requires an expert level of proficiency in various tools, techniques, processes, and methodologies. The analyst is responsible for driving work based on general directions while building positive working relationships with stakeholders. A key aspect of this role is to assist in the development and mentoring of other IT staff, providing career guidance and support to foster their growth within the organization. In this role, the Senior Business Systems Analyst will engage with key stakeholder groups to gain a deep understanding of the business activities, systems, software, and processes relevant to their focus area. They will work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify problems, needs, and potential enhancements, producing detailed specifications for new or modified systems. This includes documenting requirements using standard templates, workflow diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes, and collaborating with IT staff to develop new systems and software solutions. The analyst will also be responsible for researching and evaluating emerging technologies and software solutions to determine their applicability to the firm's business needs. They will conduct build versus buy evaluations of software systems, oversee the implementation of new systems, and provide comprehensive reference documentation. Additionally, the analyst will plan and facilitate validation and testing for new systems and enhancements, ensuring a smooth transition to operational support teams. Project management is a significant component of this role, as the Senior Business Systems Analyst will create and maintain project and resource plans for complex IT projects, proactively identifying and mitigating risks. They will develop communication plans that include weekly status reports and project change requests, facilitating the rollout and training for end users impacted by IT projects. Budget management is also a key responsibility, as the analyst will plan, maintain, and control project budgets while coordinating with vendors and managing vendor resources for project initiatives.
