About the position

This senior-level Business Systems Analyst role involves working closely with senior management on high-visibility projects to address the needs and challenges of managed care payors. The position focuses on gathering requirements, performing analysis, and designing new or enhanced systems to meet operational, business, and clinical needs. The analyst will lead a team, mentor junior analysts, and ensure adherence to best practices throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical expert and principal designer of information systems for managed healthcare.
  • Collaborate with senior management to understand business needs and develop information systems solutions.
  • Function as the lead Business Systems Analyst, working independently on deliverables.
  • Develop business cases and ROI models to support user requests, coordinating with business and IT leadership.
  • Gather requirements from cross-organizational groups for new development and enhancements of Clinical Systems.
  • Analyze requirements and recommend changes to address deficiencies in systems.
  • Write requirements, functional specifications, and other supporting documentation for new or enhanced systems.
  • Ensure compliance of clinical systems with state and federal regulations.
  • Inform department and project managers of project progress and problems.
  • Participate in all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring standards are followed and systems are adequately tested.
  • Standardize formats and methodologies for documentation and monitor industry developments.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced Business Systems Analysts, coordinating knowledge exchange.
  • Model existing undocumented systems and build a library of documentation for the team.
  • Develop educational training materials and user procedure manuals in coordination with the Operations Team.
  • Prepare reports on pre-test and post-test results to address deficiencies.
  • Develop and distribute management reports and special requests for claims data.
  • Visualize data creatively to enhance understanding and decision-making.
  • Assist in writing reports and presentations on project status and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology, or Communications Engineering.
  • Minimum five years of experience in end-to-end SDLC design, development, and implementation of managed healthcare payor solutions, or two years with a Master's Degree.
  • At least one year of experience with a managed care organization on business transformation.
  • Two years of experience using FACETS, SQL scripts & queries, OBIEE, Power BI, Tableau & MicroStrategy reports & dashboards.
  • Experience with project management & SDLC methodologies, and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) and web-based technologies.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, consulting, and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with claims analytics or related disciplines.
  • Understanding of NYS, CMS, and Medicaid reimbursement guidelines.
