The position involves planning, initiating, coordinating, and monitoring business relations with dedicated suppliers within their categories for the Americas. The successful candidate will define global strategies for each category managed and collaborate with corporate and regional peers to establish profitable purchasing and sourcing strategies, ensuring effective supply chains that provide the lowest total landed costs. In this role, the candidate will continuously monitor global material markets and manage the supplier portfolio to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, on-time delivery, sustainability, and compliance with all laws and regulations. The responsibilities also include tracking, monitoring, and analyzing key material indices such as CRU, AMM, and LME. The candidate will negotiate prices and conditions as part of the Supplier Management Assignment (SMA) and will be responsible for managing and maintaining all current supplier contracts and documentation provided by suppliers. Additionally, the role requires coordinating and steering the assigned category, including purchase price planning and defining savings projects.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, initiate, coordinate and monitor business relations with dedicated suppliers for the Americas.
  • Define global strategies for each category managed.
  • Collaborate with Corporate and/or regional peers to define profitable purchasing/sourcing strategies and effective supply chains.
  • Continuously monitor Global Material Markets and manage/optimize the supplier portfolio.
  • Track, monitor and analyze key material indices, including CRU, AMM, LME, etc.
  • Negotiate prices and conditions in the context of Supplier Management Assignment (SMA).
  • Manage and maintain all current supplier contracts and documentation supplied by suppliers.
  • Coordinate and steer assigned category, including purchase price planning and defining savings projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in purchasing as part of an automotive tier one manufacturing organization.
  • Strong cost analysis, project management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience successfully leading and managing cross-functional teams.
  • External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment VISA or other sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering.
  • Demonstrated sourcing and purchasing experience in categories such as castings, forgings, and wet and dry friction material.
