About the position

Largo Clean Energy (LCE), a subsidiary of Largo Inc., headquartered in Wilmington, MA, is seeking an innovative, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual to join our organization as the Senior Buyer on a full-time capacity. LCE is working to become a leader in long-duration energy storage, utilizing its VCHARGE battery system which employs patented battery technology and proprietary vanadium electrolyte processing to provide customers with safe, efficient, low-cost, and long-lasting energy storage solutions. The parent company, Largo Inc., is an industry leader in global vanadium supply with operations in Brazil and corporate headquarters in Toronto, Canada. The Senior Buyer is responsible for all tactical buying functions for materials and services needed to support manufacturing activities, R&D purchases, and general operations. This role requires a high degree of accountability and interaction with Manufacturing, R&D, Field Services, and suppliers. The successful candidate shall be a doer with an urgency to act, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and frequent changes in a manufacturing environment. The right candidate will bring a positive mindset to adapt to a new and changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Sourcing Strategics are in place to strategically manage raw materials spend; ensuring quality, on time delivery, and low cost while compliant with any laws/regulations for assigned categories
  • Design and deliver new supply chains for assigned categories
  • Drive cost savings to reach target system cost
  • Identify, qualify, negotiate, and contract suppliers and contractors to supply products and services to support the company's energy storage technology
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the identification of alternative materials, designs, and suppliers, facilitate qualification trials, and conduct supplier management to drive continuous improvement
  • Solicit proposals/quotations for materials and services, analyze bids for specification compliance, pricing, delivery commitments, and evaluate the sources to ensure they can sustain providing goods and services
  • Complete special projects and assignments as requested by the Manager

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education (Bachelor's Degree)
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • ERP experience (SAP preferred)

  • Experience and confidence working with hand tools and machine tools
  • Electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Working with hazardous chemical solutions
  • Proficient in MS Office with good written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast pace, high growth environment
