About the position

The Senior Buyer position at Leonardo DRS involves managing procurement processes for defense and intelligence products. This hybrid role requires the buyer to work in the office three days a week, focusing on generating purchase orders, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with procurement laws and regulations. The position emphasizes negotiation skills and the ability to resolve supplier issues effectively while maintaining accurate procurement records.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and execute CPSR-compliant purchase orders based on approved requisitions and requests for proposals.
  • Facilitate and manage supplier issues related to cost, quality, delivery, and customer service.
  • Manage all aspects of supplier relationships, including accounts payable holds.
  • Initiate and follow through on supplier changes, such as Engineering Change Notices.
  • Lead negotiations and apply knowledge of commercial contract law to assess and negotiate terms and conditions.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and resolve issues associated with service agreements.
  • Understand demand/spend profiles for commodity areas and provide necessary information.
  • Track and report cost savings or avoidances.
  • Maintain accurate records and files of vendor agreements and procurement records.
  • Communicate supplier performance and conduct supplier visits as required.
  • Act as the primary contact between DRS personnel and assigned suppliers.
  • Support and communicate the mission, values, and culture of the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in purchasing.
  • Ability to understand military specifications and read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of procurement laws and contract breach regulations.
  • Experience in price and cost analysis.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
