About the position

The Senior Buyer at Leonardo DRS, Inc. is responsible for managing procurement processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining supplier relationships. This hybrid role requires a strong understanding of purchasing, contract negotiation, and supplier performance management, contributing to the company's mission of delivering defense and intelligence products.

Responsibilities

• Generate and execute CPSR-compliant purchase orders based on approved requisitions and requests for proposals.
• Facilitate and manage supplier issues related to cost, quality, delivery, and customer service.
• Manage all aspects of supplier relationships, including accounts payable holds.
• Initiate and follow through on supplier changes, including Engineering Change Notices.
• Lead negotiations and apply knowledge of commercial contract law to assess and negotiate terms and conditions.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with suppliers, resolving issues related to pricing, quality, and contract disputes.
• Understand demand/spend profiles for commodity areas and provide necessary information.
• Track and report cost savings or avoidances.
• Maintain accurate records and files of vendor agreements and procurement records.
• Communicate supplier performance and conduct supplier visits as required.
• Act as the primary contact between DRS personnel and assigned suppliers.
• Support and communicate the mission, values, and culture of the company.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 5 years of experience in purchasing.
• Ability to understand military specifications and read blueprints.
• Knowledge of procurement laws and contract breach regulations.
• Experience in price and cost analysis.
• Strong negotiating skills.
