About the position

The position is for a Purchasing Specialist at Leonardo DRS, focusing on generating and executing CPSR-compliant purchase orders and managing supplier relationships. The role involves negotiation, supplier performance tracking, and ensuring compliance with procurement laws and regulations. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence three days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and execute CPSR-compliant purchase orders based on approved requisitions and proposals.
  • Facilitate and manage supplier issues related to cost, quality, delivery, and customer service.
  • Manage all aspects of supplier relationships, including accounts payable holds.
  • Initiate and follow through on supplier changes, such as Engineering Change Notices.
  • Lead negotiations and apply knowledge of commercial contract law to minimize risk.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and resolve issues related to service agreements.
  • Understand demand/spend profiles for commodity areas and provide necessary information.
  • Track and report cost savings or avoidances.
  • Maintain accurate records of vendor agreements and procurement records.
  • Communicate supplier performance and conduct supplier visits as required.
  • Act as the primary contact between DRS personnel and assigned suppliers.
  • Support and communicate the mission, values, and culture of the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in purchasing.
  • Ability to understand military specifications and read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of procurement laws and contract breach regulations.
  • Experience in price and cost analysis.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
