About the position

The Senior CAD/BIM Designer at Bayhill Enterprises LLC is responsible for creating detailed shop drawings and 3D models to meet customer specifications. This role involves collaborating with engineers, project managers, and sales staff to ensure accurate designs and modifications throughout the project lifecycle. The designer will utilize CAD/BIM software to develop and document metal structures, prepare bills of materials, and maintain design standards.

Responsibilities

  • Create shop drawings to meet customer specifications.
  • Make final sketches of proposed drawings, checking dimensions of parts and materials used.
  • Design and prepare detailed electronic (CAD) working plans, charts, and/or scale drawings for complex projects from observations, measurements, sketches, and specifications.
  • Develop and document metal structures in 3D models.
  • Transform documents from 2D into 3D models using Autodesk Inventor and/or Revit.
  • Prepare bills of materials from 3D models.
  • Liaise with engineers to gather product and material requirements for designs.
  • Use CAD/BIM software to design shade systems, layout, and product sizes.
  • Communicate with project managers, general contractors, architects, and engineers to obtain details of field conditions and materials.
  • Modify CAD file designs to comply with modified specifications during actual construction.
  • Collaborate with sales staff and customers regarding required changes to existing drawings.
  • Keep track of project status.
  • Assist in determining and verifying building measurements and other related information for proper design.
  • Ensure changes are properly approved and documented.
  • Create fabrication sets of drawings and corresponding work orders.
  • Provide support to the workshop with custom pieces.
  • Analyze, update, and maintain records and resolve discrepancies.
  • Procure and organize final as-built document sets.
  • Maintain company design and drafting standards.
  • Support installation crews as needed.
  • Assist operations and engineering teams with other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Perform final checking and distribution of fully coordinated installation drawings.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Drafting/Design, or related field, or foreign equivalent.
  • Two years (24 months) of experience as a Designer or in a related occupation.
  • At least one year (12 months) of experience with 3D CAD software (Inventor, Revit, and AutoCAD) and associated tools.
