About the position

The Senior CAD Designer will collaborate closely with Design Engineers to create innovative aftermarket accessories for Trucks, Jeeps, and Passenger Cars. This role requires extensive knowledge in automotive exterior design, including Class A surfaces and various manufacturing processes. The designer will be involved in all stages of product development, from conceptualization to production, with a focus on aftermarket products and potential expansion into OEM lines.

Responsibilities

  • Create innovative design concepts and complete product designs in 3D and drawing release according to engineering direction.
  • Utilize Catia or NX for design and production implementation, applying DFMA toolbox skills.
  • Provide direction for new product design solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Coordinate design-related workload with designated Design Engineer.
  • Create models, drawings, and support test sample builds.
  • Coordinate with the CAD Administrator and related RealTruck Brands as necessary.
  • Develop new product concepts that appeal to customers, focusing on function and aesthetics.
  • Create drawings for prototype and production release, following applicable processes.
  • Design for Manufacturing as required by the Brand's manufacturing engineers.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts with the team to find solutions during complex situations.
  • Mentor junior designers as needed.
  • Establish and maintain corporate design standards.

Requirements

  • 2-year Associate of Applied Science in CAD/Design or equivalent degree is required.
  • 5+ years of hands-on, professional product design experience working for an OEM or Tier 1 in body/exterior/sealing/mechanisms or equivalent required.
  • Experience designing injection molded parts, including knowledge of draft angles and lifter design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in consumer product design is a plus.
  • Familiarity with various engineered materials and processes.
