About the position
The Senior Cafeteria Lead at Gunpowder Elementary School is responsible for supervising the kitchen operations that serve over 400 meals daily. This role involves overseeing food preparation, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and training other food service employees. The position serves as a liaison between school staff and the cafeteria manager, promoting food service programs and maximizing student participation.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the operation of a satellite food service at Gunpowder Elementary School.
- Oversee the serving of over 400 meals per day.
- Act as a liaison between local school staff and the cafeteria manager.
- Assist in marketing food service programs to encourage student participation.
- Prepare and check food based on planned menus, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards.
- Train and direct food service employees in the satellite kitchen.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP procedures and food safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and supplies, including washing and sanitizing.
- Handle cash and prepare daily bank deposits, verifying cash receipts.
- Maintain accountability of free and reduced-priced meal transactions.
- Transport supplies from the base kitchen to satellite schools as needed.
- Attend monthly meetings and in-service training sessions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in food service.
- Certified Food Service Manager-Level 1 certification.
