About the position

The Senior Career Coach at the University of Texas at Austin is responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive career and internship resource program tailored to the evolving job market and the needs of students and alumni. This role involves coaching students on career planning and job search strategies, fostering relationships with recruiters, and enhancing placement rates through effective career services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group career coaching in job search skills, negotiation, and career management.
  • Conduct workshops and presentations to enhance student success in networking, resume building, and interviewing.
  • Support the director and assistant director in implementing an advanced career development program.
  • Develop and execute workshops and career fairs, and build a strategic plan for career services.
  • Oversee the collection and dissemination of employer information and job postings to students.
  • Maintain the LBJ Careers database with up-to-date postings and employer information.
  • Develop and implement marketing and communications programs to promote career-related events and services.
  • Provide excellent customer service to external inquiries from potential employers and support employer relations tasks.
  • Cultivate relationships with domestic and international employers to increase the employer base.
  • Track and maintain student internships and evaluations, and lead educational programming for internships.
  • Lead the career readiness track in the professional development certificate program.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or similar program and four years of work experience in career services; OR a bachelor's degree and six years of experience in career services.
  • Excellent resume writing, interviewing, and job search skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication.
  • Event planning and project management skills, including effective prioritizing and managing multiple projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or similar program.
  • More than the required years of work experience in career services.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective rapport with students and employers.
  • Experience coaching, advising, or mentoring.
