About the position

The 30th Street Senior Center is San Francisco's largest multipurpose senior center with eight programs serving more than 6,000 seniors per year. We offer multiple programs for active seniors citywide including exercise classes, delicious meals and a variety of social activities to carry out our mission to help seniors remain healthy, independent and in their communities for as long as possible. Our Aging and Disability Resource Center, home delivered meals, and case management programs, provide additional support to seniors in our community. The Senior Center Program Specialist facilitates, manages, and assists with the implementation of Senior Center health education and activity programs at selected sites in San Francisco. The specialist focuses on one program from our primary Senior Center programs, including Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP), the Always Active program, or the Health Promotion program. As a facilitator working out of the lead agency, 30th Street Senior Center, the Specialist is responsible for incorporating the concepts of empowerment, adult education principles, and cultural humility into delivering the information and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hands-on activities, and educational demonstrations, consultations, and action planning, instructs exercise classes, conduct outreach, and work with site program staff, independent contractors, and volunteers.
  • Recruits, enrolls, and orients participants to Senior Centers programs, including maintaining participant files and distribution and collection of surveys.
  • Assists with building a referral program in the community and conducts outreach efforts, including presentations, flyers, and informational material at community health events.
  • Manages the schedule of classes, coordinates leaders and conducts workshops at multiple centers throughout San Francisco in Spanish.
  • Responsible for supplies and equipment purchases for the workshops and classes.
  • Works closely with partners, attends program and committee meetings, and collects and submits the required data and documentation.
  • Conducts regular site visits to assure compliance with the program.
  • Responsible for the onboarding, training, evaluations, and ongoing education of Independent Contractors/program staff/volunteers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of management experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Working knowledge of computers and excellent writing skills required.
