About the position

The Senior Certified Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens plays a crucial role in supporting pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This position involves assisting in various pharmacy operations, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining effective relationships with healthcare providers. The technician is responsible for processing prescriptions, managing inventory, and contributing to a positive customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
  • Utilize pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information accurately.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying correctness, and checking for possible interactions.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
  • Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely manner.
  • Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Pharmacy Department.
  • Assist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples from patients.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with local medical community members, including physicians and nurses.

Requirements

  • PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
  • One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills (counting, measuring, and weighing medications).
  • Basic level PC skills (e.g., using a mouse, starting and closing programs).
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
