About the position

The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This role involves using pharmacy systems to process prescriptions, engage with customers, and support pharmacy operations while maintaining a positive customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Assist in the practice of pharmacy under the supervision of the pharmacist.
  • Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Enter patient and drug information into pharmacy systems accurately.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Verify the correctness of medicine and check for possible interactions.
  • Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist immediately.
  • Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist customers in locating products in the OTC aisle.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention.
  • Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services efficiently.
  • Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques and file claims for discrepancies.
  • Assist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the local medical community.
  • Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, and orderly.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
  • One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
