About the position

The Senior Fluids Systems Analyst at Vast will play a crucial role in supporting the development of life support and thermal control systems for artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This position involves conducting fluid analysis, modeling, and simulations to ensure the successful design and build of the Haven-1 space habitat, which is set to be the world's first commercial space station. The analyst will work closely with the Director of Life Support Systems and contribute to the overall mission of advancing space exploration for humanity.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and run multiple fidelity fluid analysis to support Environmental Control and Life Support System design
  • Setup and run low order models for fluid modeling
  • Setup and run CFD models of spacecraft interior, including RANS, URANS, and LES
  • Plan and participate in test campaigns, anchoring analysis with test data
  • Create and review system models of pressure fed systems and associated tank, valve, and line sizing for Propulsion, Life Support, and Thermal Control Systems
  • Efficiently develop multiple CFD simulations to support trade studies
  • Develop and teach best practices in analysis to other engineers
  • Present analysis for NASA or other certification programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent
  • 5+ years experience with CFD software packages in industry: Star-CCM+, Fluent, or equivalent
  • 5+ years experience with thermo-hydraulic analysis software packages in industry: SINDA/FLUINT, GFSSP, or equivalent

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with space hardware in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
  • Master's or terminal degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent with fluids background
  • Leadership experience on an engineering or project team
  • Establishing analysis best practices and methodologies
  • Completion of certification effort for flight hardware
