About the position

As a Senior Channel Applications Engineer at ABB, you will play a pivotal role in driving the application of ABB's PLC/HMIs and Low Voltage (LV) drives across various industrial processes and systems. Your primary responsibility will be to prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments to ensure timely and accurate support for our applications. You will leverage your deep knowledge of ABB's portfolio and capabilities to design and recommend tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of our customers. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and communicating the applicability of new and emerging functional solutions to address current business challenges. In this role, you will also be responsible for advising others on delivering high-quality solutions by applying your broad and deep professional expertise. You will continuously aim to meet targets, even in challenging circumstances, and will focus your energy on key tasks to ensure customer satisfaction. You will handle PLC/HMI motor application problems and initiate effective measures for their resolution. Additionally, you will create detailed technical reports on product issues that require correction by other departments and manage customer relationships during the implementation of these corrections. Collaboration is key in this position, as you will interface with OEM Application Engineers to develop systems and solutions that cater to OEM needs. Your ability to communicate effectively and negotiate deviations will be essential in contributing to specifications and agreeing on win-win solutions. Responsibilities

  • Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments to ensure timely and accurate support for ABB PLC/HMIs and LV drives.
  • Design and recommend tailored solutions based on a deep knowledge of the portfolio and capabilities to meet customers' unique needs.
  • Contribute to specification by negotiating deviations and agreeing on win-win solutions.
  • Identify and communicate applicability of new/emerging functional solutions to address current business issues.
  • Advise others on the delivery of high-quality solutions by applying broad and deep professional expertise.
  • Continuously aim to meet targets even in difficult circumstances with value argumentation.
  • Identify and systematically follow up on business opportunities.
  • Focus energy on key tasks and take extra measures to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Resolve PLC/HMI motor application problems and initiate effective measures for their solution.
  • Create detailed technical reports on product issues that need correction by other departments and manage customer relationships during the correction process.
  • Interface with OEM Application Engineers to collaborate on systems and solutions relevant to OEM needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred).
  • 8 years' experience in the application of Low Voltage drive required.
  • Exceptional technical application and technical communication skills.
  • Understanding of Serial and Ethernet communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, etc.).
  • Programming experience in industrial PLCs (ABB, Rockwell, Siemens, Square D, or others).
  • Basic understanding of Compressors, Pump & Fan, Extruder, Crane, Hoists & Winches, Centrifuge, General Machinery, and other applications.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
