About the position

The Senior Chemical Engineer at Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) will play a pivotal role in supporting ongoing research and development efforts, focusing on the functional characterization of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) facilities. This position involves innovative design, dynamic project management, and cutting-edge system analysis, aimed at tackling complex challenges in chemical engineering and driving innovation in reverse engineering chemical processes.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize the structure of WMD facilities, including clandestine ones.
  • Conduct reverse engineering of chemical processes.
  • Engineer precise load calculations, system sizing, and performance predictions.
  • Create and refine detailed technical drawings and schematics.
  • Spearhead projects from vision to reality, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors.
  • Present project reports and updates to stakeholders.
  • Perform chemical engineering analysis to identify fault exploitation opportunities.
  • Advance reverse engineering capabilities.
  • Mentor and inspire junior engineers and technicians.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative learning environment.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in solving DoD or industry chemical engineering problems.
  • Practical experience in chemical engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within or lead a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical analyses to non-experts.
  • Strong writing skills for expressing technical analysis results clearly.
  • Research and development experience in new tools and methodologies for WMD-related facilities.
  • TS clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10 years of experience in solving DoD engineering/science problems.
  • TS clearance with eligibility for SCI based on a single-scope background investigation.
  • Military or defense-related experience with an understanding of operational planning and functional defeat of hard targets and underground facilities.
