As a Senior Chemical Process Engineer at Tesla, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in the design and execution of civil engineering projects, particularly focusing on infrastructure programs. Your responsibilities will encompass civil site design and land development concept evaluations, leading to the completion of construction drawings necessary for permitting and construction execution. This includes critical tasks such as site layout, grading and drainage, and the management of site utilities. You will be tasked with managing multiple projects through various phases including planning, design, bidding, and construction, ensuring that all aspects are executed efficiently and effectively. In this role, you will drive support staff and collaborate with both internal teams and third-party engineers. A significant part of your job will involve interfacing with external Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms during the bidding and project execution phases to ensure that all designs and specifications align with Tesla's Engineering Standards. You will be responsible for defining and planning project work scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will independently develop high-quality civil engineering products, which include construction document drawings, specifications, narratives, and calculations. Effective communication will be key, as you will need to relay project needs, changes, and statuses to both internal and external team members. Presenting design concepts and progress at various project milestones (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC) during design reviews will also be a critical aspect of your role, requiring you to engage with stakeholders and multi-discipline teams. Additionally, you will develop quantity take-offs and assist with cost estimating for projects under tight deadlines. Your role will also involve conducting meetings and coordinating with permitting agencies to secure jurisdictional approvals for civil engineering scopes, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
