About the position

As a Senior Chemical Process Engineer at Tesla, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in the design and execution of civil engineering projects. This includes site layout, grading and drainage, and site utilities. You will manage multiple projects throughout their planning, design, bid, and construction phases, ensuring that all aspects are executed to the highest standards. In this role, you will drive support staff and collaborate with both internal and third-party engineers. You will interface with external Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms during the bid and project execution phases to ensure that designs and specifications align with Tesla's Engineering Standards. You will be responsible for defining and planning project work scope, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements. Your expertise will be crucial in independently developing high-quality civil engineering products, including construction document drawings, specifications, narratives, and calculations. You will communicate project needs, changes, and status updates to both internal and external team members, presenting design concepts and progress at key project milestones (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC) to stakeholders and multi-discipline teams. Additionally, you will develop quantity take-offs and assist with cost estimating for projects within tight time frames, while also coordinating with permitting agencies to obtain necessary jurisdictional approvals for civil engineering scopes.
