About the position

The Senior Chemical & Process Engineer at Incyte plays a crucial role in providing chemical and process engineering support for small molecule drug development programs. This position involves collaborating with internal and external process chemists to enhance the efficiency and safety of API manufacturing processes, ensuring high-quality production and timely delivery of medicines.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct process analysis, simplification, and intensification for APIs and their intermediates.
  • Plan the transition of laboratory synthetic procedures into pilot production and large-scale industrial processing.
  • Develop methods for safe and environmentally friendly management of by-products and waste materials.
  • Design experiments and procedures to identify and resolve engineering issues in process development and production.
  • Collaborate with selected CMOs to optimize equipment usage based on chemistry and batch requirements.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations at selected CMOs' plants.
  • Monitor production status at CMOs' plants and address any issues that arise.
  • Work with CMOs' health and safety managers to ensure safe manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate with internal and external QC and QA functions to ensure timely and high-quality API production.
  • Perform non-routine project work, make cost-effective recommendations, and engage with senior managers on project strategies.

Requirements

  • B. Sc., M.Sc. or Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering required.
  • Minimum experience: Ph.D. - 0 years; M.Sc. - 2 years; B.Sc. - 5 years in industrial research and development of API processes and drug manufacturing.
  • Experience working with process chemists and understanding the development of high-quality, cost-effective small molecular processes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of chemical process development and API manufacturing, including designing processes based on plant equipment, reaction kinetics, hazard analysis, and thermodynamic data.
