About the position

The Senior Chemical Process Engineer at Boston Government Services (BGS) will support the nuclear solutions mission at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This role involves participating in various design phases, including feasibility studies and detailed designs, while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The engineer will work collaboratively within an integrated project team to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet the mission needs of national security.

Responsibilities

• Participate in designs ranging from scope definition, feasibility and conceptual studies, and preliminary/detailed designs.
• Develop flowsheets including block diagrams, process flow diagrams, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.
• Conduct analyses and calculations, prepare reports/studies, and support safety basis documentation.
• Prepare high-quality detailed design packages and provide engineering procurement and field technical support.
• Generate conceptual engineering deliverables such as cost-estimating bills of material and man-hour estimates.
• Effectively work as a team member or technical lead for multi-discipline tasks, providing input to System Engineers and plant customers.
• Perform walk-downs in existing plant facilities to generate design documents and provide field support.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
• 10 years of relatable experience in chemical engineering.
• Must be a US citizen.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening exam.
• DOE Q Level security clearance is required.
