About the position

The Senior Chemist in Hair Analytical at L'Oreal Research & Innovation is responsible for leading and executing analytical procedures for hair care products. This role involves developing and validating analytical methods, interpreting data, and ensuring compliance with global regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders to support product development and drive innovation in analytical chemistry.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute analytical procedures for analysis of active ingredients and formulation inerts for hair products.
  • Develop and validate analytical methods to acquire, interpret, and report necessary data for hair product development.
  • Communicate status of analytical development and projects through technical reports and presentations for regulatory submission.
  • Liaise with stakeholders from sales, marketing, regulatory, operations, and manufacturing to understand business needs and provide technical support.
  • Collect, process, and interpret data accurately, deriving conclusions based on sound science and preparing reports to communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Utilize existing and implement new analytical technologies to foster innovation across the analytical technical community.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and collaborate with brand partners to support product development.
  • Adhere to written procedures and practices to ensure quality, compliance, and safety.
  • Adapt to changes and manage multiple projects to ensure timely delivery of results and milestones.
  • Maintain awareness of consumer trends and evolving capabilities in analytical chemistry.
  • Develop working relationships with cross-functional teams and international colleagues.
  • Perform general troubleshooting and maintenance for instrumentation.
  • Participate in L'Oreal's international analytical technical communities.

Requirements

  • MS in analytical chemistry, material chemistry, or physical chemistry, or BS in chemistry with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to tackle challenging technical problems and develop innovative methods and assays through hands-on experimentation.
  • Experience with microscopy (e.g., SEM, AFM), DSC, FT-IR is preferred.
  • Knowledge of hair fiber treatment, analysis, and evaluation techniques is a plus.
