About the position

The Senior Civil CAD Designer will play a crucial role in the Civil/Land Development Group at Dewberry, primarily supporting the Civil CAD Design Manager and the design team. This position involves taking on complex design tasks for various projects, including residential, multi-family, commercial, and mixed-use developments. The ideal candidate will leverage their extensive experience in CAD design to enhance project delivery and contribute to the training of junior designers.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare base files, plan exhibits, construction documentation, and detailed design drawings for land development and civil engineering projects.
  • Provide drafting and design services by preparing and maintaining AutoCAD 3D drawings for construction drawings ready for agency approval.
  • Coordinate with internal team members and other project delivery team members (architects, landscape architects, traffic consultants, etc.) to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure compliance with municipal specifications and standards.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of CAD standards across the Civil/Land Development Group.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in drafting or engineering technology.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience as a CADD designer (AutoCAD Civil3D) with civil design and land development experience.
  • Strong working experience with current versions of AutoCAD and the Civil 3D package to create surfaces, alignments, and profiles.
  • High attention to detail, good organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and a keen eye for quality.
  • Ability to take a project from early planning stages to final approved plans.
  • Understanding of land development design concepts, practices, and procedures including drainage, earthwork, streets, and utilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, fluid working environment.
